Looking at the Overlooked: The Women Painters of Victorian Norwich

Speaker: Dr.Fiona Savage, art historian & art curator.

Dr. Fiona Savage will focus on the forgotten women artists of Norwich, who, despite social restrictions, were successful in the art world of the nineteenth century.

Dr.Savage has a BA (Hons) in Archaeology, Anthropology and Art History; an MA in the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas; & a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Travel Imagery of the Georgian Era.

She is currently conducting research into the women artists who are associated with the Norwich School of Painting. Her interest in this subject originated as a result of working as an assistant fine art curator at Norfolk Museums Service where she was exposed to their work for the first time. As a result, she has developed a great respect and admiration for these forgotten and neglected artists and is determined to rescue them from historical oblivion.

All Historian Group sessions start at 10:15am for tea, & coffee (£1 in the honesty box) and the talk will start at 10:30am. There will be an opportunity for further refreshments and a chat afterwards.

The talk is free but please book to ensure a place.
